#AmericanAdventure

“You are going to have the time of your life” declared every enthusiastic human who learned about my Student Exchange Program with the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. Even after having relentlessly endured the perpetual distress, four years of law school had in the offering, equanimity was formidable as the complexities of an entirely new episode which was about to unfold, perplexed me.  Four months down the line, as I make a conscious choice to stay home on a Saturday night courtesy exams approaching, a couple of lines from the Coldplay’s song “Scientist” is constantly buzzing in my ear. I continue with the onerous errand tagging my friends in memes on social media as “ Noone ever said it was easy, No one ever said it would be this hard ” unexpectedly sound relatable to my ongoing state of affairs. To anyone reading this, before you jump to any conclusions, I am not for once regretting this decision of crossing continents and oceans and coming to a phoren land ...

Kangna- Hritik Controversy: A misguided case of Man v Women!

There has been a constant media trial surrounding the controversy which stemmed from Kangana's recent interviews in a couple of talk shows. The one with Rajat Sharma at Aapki Adalat generated widespread buzz, so much that there were dozens of memes doing the rounds even weeks after the interview ended. Some branded it as a publicity stunt for her film Simran while others lauded the effort of an Industry outsider taking on the big wigs of the Bollywood business ( Shortly after the nepotism debate after the Koffee with Karan episode). There was another interview that followed with Barkha dutt which was basically an English translation of everything that was already discussed on Aap Ki Adalat. So, people who haven't watched it yet aren't really missing on anything new to the story. Having taken those interviews with a pinch of salt and considering them a regular dosage of ordinary bollywood masala, I never chose to take sides. However, I would not deny the fact that K...

हिंदी में बात करते हैं!

Bollywood isn’t just entertainment, it is a way of life. There is no better delight than watching a perfectly entertaining movie with the right life lesson.  Hindi Medium starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar was one such experience. It was pleasantly astonishing that despite the presence of a Pakistani Actor, Hindi medium managed a controversy-free release across the country. The fact that the theatres in a city like Ranchi were running a packed house on a weekday afternoon for an Irrfan Khan movie was even more remarkable. I believe it was all about the timing The regularity of debates on news channels entailing relentless bickering over Patriotism >> Art and Cinema was gradually subsiding. Hence the producers of this film were spared of the public flak coupled with onerous errand of getting a clearance from the authorities for the movie release. Also striking the iron when it is hot, the makers could not have had a better timing for a release considering th...

Remembering the Good, in the Goodbyes.

Home is my happy place.   Gone are the days of longing for a vacation away from Home. Now, coming back home is a vacation in itself. The otherwise constant cribbing about so much to do and so little time meets with a momentarily halt and benediction comes in the form where there is “nothing to do and all day to do it”. Almost 10 days into, what I would call the longest vacation of my college life (EIGHTY MIGHTY DAYS), I wish to reconcile with my productivity. Marking my beginning with a blog post. It took a while to come out of the trauma that the Eight Semester had in store. The occurrence of events prior to the foregone conclusion were nothing short of exhilarating but their culmination was predictably devastating.  Sometimes, home isn’t a just a place surrounded with walls, it is a feeling that comes with people around you. Finding home in a hopeless place (Read College) was certainly baffling but the obscurity faded as familiarity with the faces f...

Picking up the pen again!

It has been AGES! I  frequently use this phrase for a few of my friends, when I haven't seen them for over Hundred hours. Counting hours is my thing, you know. Keeping track of time even when it is slowly slipping away is one guilty pleasure I frequently indulge in. Taking a break from my drama queen ways and making it as precise as possible, let's get to the point. IT HAS BEEN ONE YEAR since I last wrote a post for my blog. For someone to whom writing random crap comes effortlessly, this gigantic gap was unforeseen.  The process to re-start was baffling, occasionally filling me up with anguish and resentment. I was at a loss of words, quite literally because I didn't know what to write on, who to write about. When you lose the ability to feel something deeply, expressing it out is an onerous errand. Fearless stupidity was no longer my distinction as the fear of being judged had taken over. With this, I conclude my brief yet insightful analysis on the failure to sust...
