More than just a ton..

Finally! Finally! Finally! The long and tiring wait is over and yes, for good…That Sachin Tendulkar made his 100th international century is now a part of history books…So unlike the usual critics who had questioned Sachin’s very presence in the team owing to his constant failure in keeping up to the expectations of the people and shamelessly switched sides once this spectacular feat was achieved, I would not like to go into the details so as to “once again” define Sachin’s greatness, his expertise over the game and how come he has silenced  critics with his bat…

Sachin Tendulkar, a name that speaks for itself…Over his illustrious career spanning more than a couple of decades, his bat has always done the talking and at the twilight of his career, he is simply not answerable to anyone…Hitting 100 tons in international cricket is something so great that no one ever has or ever will be able to achieve this miracle (bringing my biased view along, Virat Kohli might as well do it :P)…So the fact that every tom dick and harry raised a hue and cry regarding his  apparently average performance and even alleged him of being past his prime urging him to hang up his boots was just unbelievable…People were cribbing for that special landmark “the 100th ton” but amidst their desperation, those 99 hundreds seemed to lose their significance…Sachin Tendulkar ,an ambassador for the gentlemen’s game had suddenly become an object of mockery and ridicule, only because he was constantly unsuccessful in addressing the demands of those billions of Indians…

Therefore, NOT joining the likes of veteran critics  who are now discussing his greatness and his contribution to the game, something which is no news …Let us look at the  different picture…What difference has this 100 made? Well ,if u ask me then :for me Sachin’s greatness would have been made no less sans this 100 because  He is more to cricket than what cricket is to him…But one thing certainly cannot be ignored and that is his ton came at a crucial time, it spared the Indian cricket team from humiliation and disgrace following their defeat against a team as tiny as Bangladesh…The media hype surrounding his ton did not give critics enough time to analyze the flaws which led to this defeat in the ongoing Asia Cup…And amidst ,talks of his retirement doing the rounds ;Will the legend  call it quits?

If I had my way then NEVER EVER… coz the very thought of watching the game without the Master Blaster sends a chill down the spine…
